Assignment 3

POVERTY IN GREEN BAY:

1. How did Green Bay compare to the state of Wisconsin in terms of number of residents living below the poverty line in the year 2007?

As of 2007, our state of Wisconsin's poverty rate is 10.8%. Green Bay's rate is 16.3%. Our city isn't too much higher than our state's rate, but it still should not be that high. It is our duty to protect our friends and neighbors.

2. What “family type” makes up the majority of the families living in poverty in Green Bay?

Single women make up the majority "family type" in poverty. Their rate in Green Bay is 60%. Married couples make up 20%, and single men make up the other 20%.

3. What age is most affected by poverty in both Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin? Why?

The poorest people in Green Bay are from the ages of 18-24 years old. They are typically college students at about 8% below poverty level. The poorest people in Wisconsin are also from the ages of 18-24 years old, but they are at about 9% below poverty level.
